Sony recently revealed its latest console at its PlayStation 5 Showcase event. The PS5 is a sleek, futuristic-looking piece of kit and Sony not only revealed one console, but two! As we mention elsewhere, this is a clever piece of marketing. In one fell swoop the Gaming giant covered all bases with one machine for the present and another that looks to the future.
One version of the PlayStation 5 console will come with a Blu-ray disc player for physical disc format games. In addition, Sony also unveiled a disc-less model that will exclusively cater for digital games. Check out the PlayStation 5 console in the PS5 Hardware reveal trailer below:
Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Eric Lempel, had this to say about the digital only PS5;
“A second [PS5] that represents the growth of the digital business over the years…. And a lot of consumers have shifted the way they interact with our products. Part of my job, and my team’s, is to talk to consumers all the time, understand what they like and what they want. And there’s a segment of consumers that just want to go digital.”
