Yesterday Naughty Dog took to the official PlayStation Blog to announce the new release dates for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. The new launch dates reveal further delays to the long awaited next instalment of the action adventure third-person shooter title.
Naughty Dog has moved swiftly to reassure the games long-suffering fans that A Thief’s End is nearing completion and will meet expectations when released.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the largest edition of the Uncharted series and as deadlines loomed, Naughty Dog realised they’d need more time. The video game developer has explained that while putting the finishing touches to the game, the team realised they would need more time to ensure they delivered perfect results.
With Naughty Dog requiring more time to polish off Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, the new launch date revealed by the developer is now the 27th of April 2016 in all PAL regions. A Thief’s End lands in the UK 2 days later on the 29th of April. The extension is roughly a month more than the previously set launch date.
While the news will be disappointing to the legions of Uncharted fans and PS4 gamers looking forward to the games release, it is commendable that Naughty Dog would risk any backlash in order get more time to perfect their game. This is what Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, Directors at Naughty Dog had to say about the extension on the EU PlayStation Blog:
“After carefully considering all of our options, we decided to extend our schedule, making sure that we get a few more polish passes before submitting our gold master (the final disc for manufacturing)., . . .
. . . Pushing the date is not an easy choice, and we wouldn’t do it if we didn’t feel in our hearts it’s the best course of action for the game. To you, our loyal fans, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology. We know many of you have been waiting patiently for Nathan Drake’s final chapter, and now we humbly ask you to wait a bit longer.”
At PS4 Mag we’re all for ensuring gamers get the best quality games and value for their hard earned money when they buy games. And while the news may disappoint fans, lets hope the new date doesn’t get pushed back further and that Naughty Dog delivers on their promise of “the most ambitious instalment in the Uncharted series.”
