All-new haunting adventure Toren, a PS4 debut from Brazilian game developer Swordtales, is out on PlayStation 4 today, (12 May).
The main protagonist in the game is the so-called Moonchild, the kid who is destined to reach the Toren (a very strange tower) during a hauntingly solitary journey. PlayStation 4 gamers will start this adventure game as a small child who has to learn how to walk, and how to interact with the surroundings.
However, Moonchild will grow up and age through the game, learning new powers as well as various abilities. As the game progresses, this little one will become stronger, so you will be able to interact with the world in even more different ways.
Players will mark some similarities between Toren and the classic PS2 game Ico. Like Ico, Toren also features a wonderful, but silent game world – with the lack of a narrator during the game. The Swordtales team has considered that this style of “silent narration” best suits the game purpose.
On the other hand, the game is rich with color – a wide range of different colors. This awesome colourful look of the game is based on the traditional artwork as well as the mythology of Brazil.
As the game developers say, they had great support from fans – whose feedback spurred the Swordtales developer team to complete the project. The game was created with the help of Sony’s indie-friendly approach. Working with some famous indie developers like Doublefine, Klei Entertainment, and so on has also been a great source of inspiration for the Swordtales team.
Toren will surely increase the popularity of Sony’s indie games, and significantly contribute to the growth of the PS4 game culture of Brazil.Toren is also one of only a few PS4 video games that come out of Brazil. We hope it will not be the last game of the Swordtales team!
