Halloween is nearly here and perhaps coincidentally indie games developer Tiger Style launches its puzzle game Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon on PS4 today. The American Studio’s puzzle title is finally out on PS4 having been released in 2015.

Tiger Style’s Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon is the sequel to the critically acclaimed first installment of the series; Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor. The Secrets of Bryce Manor was released in 2009 and went on to become a multi award winning game for the independent developer.

Now Rite of the Shrouded Moon is on PS4 and gamers can look forward to a fresh, exciting new title on the console given the studio’s success.

The puzzle game seeks to immerse players such that the line between real life and the game’s’ plot becomes blurred. Set on Blackbird Estate, a creaky abandoned manor, Rite of the Shrouded Moon takes spooky to a whole new level.

Real world occurrences play a crucial role in the puzzle games’ storyline. For example, if you play the game during a real life thunderstorm, the game will reflect that.

Likewise, if you’re playing the game at night, it will also be night in the game. Eerily, whatever the moon phase outside your window is also what will be reflected in the game, making Halloween a spooky spectre indeed.

The new moon is particularly significant in this puzzle game. Some of its mysteries and secret passages only appearing during certain phases of the moon.

The game is programmed to know what day of the year it is and features special Halloween week surprises. But these will not only be confined to Halloween, as phases of the moon and other factors will also trigger other events.

To add further authenticity to the game, the secret society in Shrouded Moon is based on a real life one called The Knights of the Buried Chambers. As players get to understand the game its secrets will become clearer and help solve the puzzle of the game.

Tiger Style say that Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon is still an action game, but the Studio’s focus was more on players living the game just as they would in reality. And with Halloween just around the corner, what better way than to play a game that will bring the season to life.
