The Swindle is a Steampunk cybercrime caper type of game that will be coming to PS4 it has been announced. It has been a long time since we’ve heard anything about this title mostly because of the complicated publisher search that it went through, but now the game has been confirmed for PlayStation 4.
The Swindle was created few years back, but because of various issues including the fact that there was no publisher willing to go through with this project, all work on it was stopped until October 2014.
Indie Developer Dan Marshall, the creator of the title, has now penned a publishing deal for the title with Curve Digital, the acclaimed game publisher company that will release the game for PS4 and other formats U later this year. Most of the gaming community will surely find real pleasure in hearing this news.
Every level in The Swindle is unique, and players will be tasked with breaking into procedurally-generated buildings, or trying to hack computers and empty their bank accounts, and then take the loot back to your airship. In this way the game is a refreshing change as it switches from sneaky and stealth fun to a fast paced, against-the-clock action adventure!
We’ve been waiting for a new release from Curve Digital studios since their Stealth Bastard Deluxe trilogy that saw its last sequel released at the end of 2014. Both of these games were started at the same time, but in the end, SBD got out the gates long before The Swindle.
One of the main reasons why Swindle was abandoned the first time round was because Marshall found it difficult to find a way to make all of the gameplay features enjoyable to the user. It took him three years to figure out a way to mix Spelunky and Deus Ex-like elements together in order to create the piece of art that is The Swindle.
If you’re visiting the PAX East event that will take place at the beginning of March, you’ll be able to play a little bit of Swindle at Curve Digital’s booth.
