Early last month, Team17 had revealed through the PlayStation blog that the gaming studio would soon be releasing The Escapists on the PlayStation 4 console. Now the critically acclaimed PS4 title has a confirmed relase date: 29 May. The award winning sandbox prison escape title has been built in collaboration with Mouldy Toof, an independent developer.
The Escapists is a strategy based game which comprises of captive survival and daring schemes. The game will allow the gamer to experience the freedom to live a life of a prison inmate who is plotting and trying to manage a daring escape from the prison.
Escaping the prison isn’t going to be an easy task at all. The player will need to work across a strict routine in the prison, avoid getting any guards’ attention, create weapons using any resources available inside the prison, and manage the escape. The weapons can be built using tools found inside the prison or the player can steal items from others.
Doing a job in the prison, or performing any special favours will earn rewards in the form of special supplies. These can be used for the escape plan. Players with a perfect escape plan will be able to get out of the prison easily. But creating and executing this perfect plan isn’t as easy as it sounds.
In all there will be six different prisons that a player needs to escape. This ranges from the minimal security of Centre Perks to the harsh Stalag Flucht POW camp. There are around six separate methods to escape these prisons which include prison takeovers and digging out their way out of the prison.
Players will also need cash to plan their perfect escape out of the prison. To earn this cash, players can pick up any of the ten jobs available in the game. Performing favours on select request from other inmates will also help the player earn an extra income. All this money can be used to create the perfect escape plan.
The Escapists is coming soon for the PlayStation 4. The gaming studio will soon publish more information and news related to the game’s availability for PS4 in the next couple of weeks.
