Last month saw the release of the latest Star Wars game. Fans were very excited about the outcome just because this game promised a lot in the previous trailers and teasers. The excitement is maybe fueled by the desire of a single-player Star Wars game as we’ve been waiting for over 10 years. At last Respawn entertainment took on the project and infused with some Dark Souls inspired game so-called Fallen Order.

So, does this mean that this game is just a collection of different games in a Star Wars outfit or it is a completely new game? – Let’s find out!

Right from the start, you will get a feeling that the new Fallen Order understands and respects hallmarks of Star Wards. Each scene is infused with incredible graphics and strong cinematics.

Consequently, the games’ physics are on a another level. You can literally see very realistic rain collecting in pools on the ground. The action is backed up by orchestra that will give you goosebumps and get you in the right mindset for every part of the game.

The opening sequence of the game you will be introduced to Cal’s power and just after the Fallen Order flips a switch which will drop you into the Metroidvania style environment that needs to be explored carefully. Unfortunately, you will not have too much time to explore as the new Star Wars is packed with set pieces that cannot be avoided.

This new Star Wars game is a bit different than previous ones, and it is built for exploration where you will encounter all kinds of creatures ranging from Stormtroopers to tomb defending mechanicals and bog rats.

The best thing is that every planet has a different environment and enemies to be prepared for and maybe adapt your play style to each universe.

Your character will be upgraded with a visit to new planets and gather more power and skills to defeat enemies. This style does not relate to many Star Wars games, but it highlights the Metroidvania elements of this game. You are able to pick up stuff from the ground to upgrade your character and use fancy new skills. Even though Respawn did so much work on character updates, it seems like they could have done a better job of infusing new cosmetics with every new upgrade.

The game is also well written and includes strong dialogs which are fun to watch in the beautiful cinematics. However, sometimes they went over the limit and spending dialog times that are not necessary.

Honestly, the gameplay feels like a mix of many different games. At first, you will be reminded of Dark Souls, and the physics like running and climbing are definitely from Uncharted as they feel exactly the same. This is kind of a disappointment as we expected to have a new Star Wars game that is nothing like ever before.

Every now and then you’ll get a glimpse of characteristics like similar puzzles from other games and combat modes. It seems like Respawn took the structure of previous games and infuse its incredible graphics and story mode. This is not necessarily a bad thing and it seems like a good recipe, but die-hard Star Wars fans wanted more.

It is a very interesting game that is hard to let go of the controller once you start playing it. Even though it is a mixed bag with other games, it still provides some great gameplay and extremely amusing combat mode. It is a very good single-player game and faithful to the Star Wars moniker.

As mentioned before, the game is well written, but it seems like they went unambitious in creating the story. This may be best evidenced by the fact that questions have arisen over the games’ ending. Fans of the franchise will almost surely wish they could have done a slightly better job.

Just like the world is evolving and anticipating new trends everywhere even in technology and it seems like games are evolving faster than a horse in the Kentucky Derby contenders. In exploration mode Star Wars: Fallen Order is on the front line. Overall, it is a very interesting game to play and explore different worlds in incredible graphics.
