SmuggleCraft, a hovercraft game based on completing all sorts of quest, is a game that has yet to be perfected by the Happy Badger team. It should provide something totally new and unseen on the racing genre. What you’ll witness is the lack of driving in circles.
The game’s concept started small: it has to be a simple racing game where you get to drive hovercrafts on randomly generated tracks. Of course, there was the hope of the developers doing something new in a racing genre which is definitely long-established and something you’ll stumble upon often as you search for diversity within it all.
Although the guys at Happy Badger Studios have been making well-standing mobile games for about several years, and even though there was an idea to work on something bigger, they stated that it never seemed like the right time. Why? Because they thought that SmuggleCraft was just an idea meant to be kept ‘locked within a box’ for as long as possible, while focusing on their original vision.
They decided to spend four months of hard coding and development, pretty long considering their older projects. The original plan was to make that game as good as it gets as quickly as possible in order to get back to the usual stuff, like paying the bills.
Those four months forged a prototype of what looks like a pretty addicting game. After it came the part where you get to share your work with others; and it produced some great feedbacks.
SmuggleCraft slowly started becoming fun, and as soon as the game became something destined to become a hit, the number of ideas has skyrocketed. Even though they all simply couldn’t be realised within such a short time period, the decision was made to take all the time necessary in order to make a first large-scale game.
After six months of hard work, SmuggleCraft has become a thing. Just like that. What it features is an immersive story that goes on as you complete quests, which create a branch full of alternate endings. There’s also a fine crafting system which allows a player to create modular parts with which they can set-up the ship they’ve been dreaming the whole time.
The game’s looks have bested everyone’s expectations as the terrains have turned from simple paths to landscapes that will simply wow you, rendered with a minimalist 3D style, filled with polygons.

Judging by the half-minute review of SmuggleCraft uploaded on YouTube, it surely is a masterpiece.
Everyone at Happy Badger Studios must be thrilled to step into a whole new dimension with SmuggleCraft. Working on this game must be a whole new experience for them, and we believe that they will rise above the challenge.
We’re glad to tell you that you won’t have to wait too long for this game, as SmuggleCraft will be released by the end of the Spring of 2016 as a console game for Play Station 4. And we can’t wait. Can you?
