Ruffian games have officially unveiled their next title for the PlayStation 4 console, Hollowpoint, one of the years most eagerly awaited PS4 titles.
Hollowpoint, a 4-player cooperative multiplayer game, merges together experiences and tactical based plays with levels built in and an almost infinite amount of enemies. It might seem like a lot of good stuff when it comes to gaming, but what does it mean?
Hollowpoint is set within some rather large environments in 3D, consisted of several external areas, rooms and stairwells that merge them all into one. It’s just like a room packed with people ready for a deathmatch.
The players can easily move along the two-dimensional plane by running, jumping, taking cover and so forth. The enemy here is able to emerge from the distance and find pretty good cover positions from which they can attack from or move from one cover to another, moving towards the two-dimensional plane where they are dangerous.
The player is able to shoot along the 2D plane or even easily switch to shoot into the area at a single touch of a button. Hollowpoint is an intriguing and a pleasure-giving mixture of a good old 2D shooter and 3D shooting gameplay that nobody has ever done before in such a seamless way, and that is the core mechanic of the game.
The game can be played in single-player mode (and it is rather fun), but playing it with others online makes you want more. Playing with up to three more players in a game is not only about providing safety in numbers, it’s more than that, much more.
If one of your “Hollowpoints” were to get injured while playing a game, they can easily be revived by another teammate, while in a solo game you can only teleport the injured player out of the action and switch them with one of your backup players, leaving you with one man down – once again, you can only take four Hollowpoints into an in-game mission.
Many Abilities that you have are actually considered as team buffs that are transferrable to a team mate which is within should be in a specific range when it’s activated, so you won’t get much by activating them alone.
Of course, every enemy killed by you or one of your teammates will get experience points and pickups for Ammo, Credits and Health as well. They are also given to teammates close enough at the moment when the enemy was taken out.
Playing solo means that you are only able to fight in one room at a time, but if you switched to multi-player you could fight in multiple rooms at the same time, allowing you a better chance of completing mission faster and getting a Gold Level Credit Bonus as well. Alone you’re strong, together you’re an unstoppable force!
Even though there’s a lot to say about this game that shouldn’t be given away, there will be more info on it in the future.
Until then, make sure to find some co-op partners and make a team so you can get ready for Hollowpoint later this year!
