QBert Rebooted is coming to PlayStation, Loot Entertainment has announced. Q*Bert, one of the most popular arcade games since the first Atari model hit the market, is now available to download after making it’s come back on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. The arcade classic is one of the biggest selling games of all time and will include the complete original version of Q*Bert as well as a new game: Q*Bert Rebooted.
Q*Bert Rebooted is the result of a collaboration between Loot Entertainment, Gonzo Games, Sideline Amusements, and Games Production Company. Now the goofy character with the coolest nose has been recreated and enhanced for the latest versions of PlayStation consoles. Now PS4,PS3, and Vita gamers will be able to play Q*Bert after more than 20 years of waiting.
The idea for this new remake title is based on the original title, but there are plenty of fresh new features as well in QBert Rebooted. The three games studios have worked together in order to bring an old-school looking yet modern Q*Bert tale. “Q*bert: Rebooted remains faithful to the commercially successful 1980’s arcade game while creating an entirely new experience that appeals to today’s savvy gamer,” said Jamie Ottilie, CEO of GPC Games. “We saw an incredible opportunity by partnering with LOOT to bring Q*bert and his band of adversaries, like Coily, Ugg, and Red Ball, to the 21st Century via PlayStation®.”
Don’t be surprised if you don’t recognize some of the elements, but rest assured that this remake still keeps a lot of the magic from its original release. The good thing is that you get three different modes of the game that could have been sold on their own for the price of a single game.
One of the biggest differences between the original and the remake is that the modern Q*Bert uses hexagons instead of cubes. This is a true game changer and you’ll notice that as you progress through Qbert Rebooted’s different levels of the game.
To make things even more interesting you’ll be able to participate in online multiplayer competitions and vie to top leaderboards by using your skill. Other exclusives that are worth mentioning include a list of characters that you’ve never seen before including the enemies list, power-ups that will come in handy, traps that you’ll need to avoid and gem-collecting as a part of the puzzle.
One of the main reasons why Q*Bert has passed the test of time is because it’s simple, straightforward and provides players with lots of difficult but fun game time. This will be a trip down memory lane for PS4 players of a certain age as well as an introduction to a timeless classic to younger players with the bonus of a completely new title.
Qbert Rebooted has been released as a cross-buy title exclusively on PlayStation® and will consist of 2D and 3D twitch gameplay and is now available for download on PS4™, PS3™ and PSVita™ entertainment systems for $9.99 and $6.99 for PlayStation Plus members (SCEA) and €8.99 and €5.99 for PlayStation Plus members (SCEE.)
