Sony’s much awaited massive PS4 update 2.50 has been officially confirmed by the company. Following a major update by Microsoft on their console in March, there were speculations that Sony will also roll out a fresh update for its latest gaming console. The company put an end to all the rumours by officially announcing the PS4 update 2.50, codenamed “Yukimura” recently.

PS4 update 2.50 will bring the much anticipated Suspend/Resume feature to the PlayStation 4. This feature will enable users to keep their apps running while the console is in a rest mode. This means users will be able to suspend any game for the moment while the PS4 remains in the Rest Mode, and then instantly access the game when powering up the console again. Users will not lose any game progress in the process.

Sony claims that almost all PlayStation 4 games will support the new Suspend/Resume feature. Users will need to press the PS button on their DualShock 4 controller to get back into the game from the Rest Mode. This feature will allow users to quickly start their games right where they left it earlier.

The “Yukimura” update will also bring several other new features to PlayStation 4, all of which have been a subject of speculations in the past. Let’s take a look at some of the upcoming features:

 PS4 update 2.50 :Upgrades for sub-account users

Users who currently have a sub-account will be able to a master account when they turn 18 directly from their PlayStation 4. The upgrade will remove restrictions that currently prevent sub-account users from chatting, funding their own wallets, making purchases, etc. As of now, users can only upgrade their accounts online.

Facebook friends

PS4 update 2.50 will make PlayStation 4 a lot more social. Users will be able to connect with their friends on Facebook using their linked accounts. Users can search for their friends on Facebook who are also PlayStation Network members. This is expected to take social gaming to a whole new level for PlayStation 4 players.

Upgrades for Remote Play and Share Play

“Yukimura” update will enable Remote Play and Share Play to run at 60fps (frames per second). Users will be able to customise the frame rate according to their bandwidth settings. Users can pick from 60fps and 30fps in the settings. This will allow gamers on a faster broadband connection to make full use of it.

Accessibility

The update will add a number of accessibility options to the PlayStation 4 entertainment experience. These will include the ability to turn text to speech, magnify text, make fonts bolder, zoom photos, invert colours, and more. Users will also be able to customise buttons for their DualShock 4 controller.

Trophy improvements

Sony claims it has received enough feedback on Trophies to make improvements. With the latest update, the console will automatically take a screenshot whenever a Trophy is earned by the user. This will make it easier for players to easily share their achievements online. Apart from that, users will also be able to remove games with 0% completion rates from their Trophy list.

Dailymotion integration

The PS4 update 2.50 “Yukimura” update will integrate the PlayStation 4 with Dailymotion, allowing users to share their moments directly to the online video sharing service. Users can simply use the Share button on the DualShock 4 controller to directly upload the video to Dailymotion.
