Last week we brought you news that the PlayStation 4 console was ahead in the Next-Gen console race after January figures for America were released. Now Sony has said today that the PS4 console has shifted more than 5.3 million units in the 13 weeks since the console launched.
The Playstation 4 console launched in America on Nov. 16 2013 and has since launched in other territories including Europe, where demand for the console is still high. At the time of writing, the only figures released by Microsoft show that teh company’s Xbox One console is doing well also, with 3 million units sold from launch, also in November, to the end of December 2013.
Despite Microsoft’s Xbox One selling quite well, these figure reveal the Playstation 4 console pulling ahead in Next-Gen console sales.- What makes the figures revealed by Sony even more impressive is that the console is yet to go on sale in the Tech giants home country of Japan, the world’s third largest economy. Xbox One is also yet to launch in Japan with no news yet on when Asian Xbox fans can get their hands on one. PS4 launches in Japan on February 22 and industry analysts predict strong demand for the console despite what may seem as an affront by Sony on their home market by Japanese gamers.
