The demo will include seven playable characters and the final game, launching on August 26, will feature 50 playable characters, the most in the series thus far.
Consequently, this new King of Fighters XIV PS4 Demos download will most likely be a popular choice for sure as will all the PS4 demos coming soon.
PS4 Demos: King of Fighters XIV Now Out
The first King of Fighters game was released in 1994, over two decades ago. It is a very long-standing fighting game series that is just as popular as (or even more so than) Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken. It has seen 13 iterations over the years, the last one (King of Fighters XIII) being released in 2010. That was six years ago!
KOF has not seen the light of day for quite some time and SNK is finally releasing a new installment of the much beloved fighting game series.
We got insider information on the details of the game from EVO 2016. SNK has completely revamped the Combo and MAX Mode systems to make it more accessible to newcomers to the series while also being extremely tough to master for advanced players. Check out the THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV Story and Demo trailer below:
SNK wants the game to appeal to both the older generation and the new one, too. We can easily proclaim that KOF XIV will be the most difficult and challenging entry in the series, and a welcome addition to the growing list of PS4 Demos.
The combat will be a 3-vs-3 style where players have to select three of their favorite characters to assemble a team from among a large pool and fight until only one team survives. This time around, the characters have three kinds of Supers: “Super Special Moves,” “Neomax Super Special Moves,” and “Climax Super Special Moves.”
Here is what we gathered of each of the seven playable characters in the demo, to help you grasp an idea of what you can expect when the final game launches in August:
King of Fighters XIV PS4 Demos Character Details
Kyo Kusanagi
Fans of the previous games in the series will instantly notice the protagonist. He has been a playable character in the series since the original game and it is quite easy to learn his move set. He is a standard fighter in the fighting game genre, with good normal and special attacks and fairly easy combos to pull off. He is quite a well-rounded fighter, making him one of the most popular character in the series.
King of Dinosaurs
The King of Fighters has a King of Dinosaurs – yes, you read that correctly. The second newcomer in the series, this extinct reptile may not be agile as others, but he can instantly grab you and throw you across the ring. Rather than throwing punches, he relies on his grappling techniques to deal good damage. He has a moderate level of difficulty.
Mai Shiranui
This female combatant does not go up close and personal to her opponents, but rather keeps a distance and attacks with her weapon – a fan. She has good normal attacks and even better EX special attacks. Good for beginners.
Sylvie Paula Paula
The first of four newcomers in the series, Sylvie is more of a tanking character, building up the power gauge meter for the entire team. She has pretty good special attacks in MAX Mode. Her normal attacks are short range and she is perhaps the easiest character to play as, with very simple combos.
Shun’ei
Another exciting addition is third newcomer in the series, Shun’ei, who has a mix of short and long range attacks. His attacks pack quite a punch, dealing heavy damage, especially his special attacks in MAX Mode. He is quite reliant on his EX moves, so it is perhaps better to build up the meter with your other characters.
Once it is fully charged, swap him in and unleash his carnage on the enemy. PS4 Demos don’t come better than this. He is a one of the more difficult characters to learn, but the gains are very rewarding.
Nelson
The fourth newcomer in the game is based entirely on long combos. His fast-paced combos put a lot of pressure on the opponent, as the combos can be linked in multiple ways, always putting the opponent on their heels and causing them to guess every movement. He is a close quarter combat kind of fighter and the most difficult character to learn to play as.
Iori Yagami
Every protagonist in a fighting game needs a rival, and Iori is Ryo’s rival since the very first installment. He is also a standard fighter with rapid normal attacks and since he is a pyromancer, he has good special attacks. With fire blasting everywhere, he is great in the hands of those who like to always be on the offensive. His combos are explosive and easy to learn.
The PS4 Demos for The King of Fighters XIV is coming out on July 19 in North America and Europe. The final version of the game is slated for release on August 23 in NA and August 26 in Europe. Stay tuned for more details on KOF XIV.
