Indie video game designer and developer Mike Bithell has released the first Volume: Coda gameplay trailer which will be coming out later in the year on PlayStation VR. The game is a free PS VR expansion to Volume, the title released in 2015 on PlayStation 4 and which has since been ported to PS Vita as well.
After being overwhelmed by the positive response from both PS4 gamers and critics alike, Bithell figured it would be appropriate to create something as a ‘thank you’ for all the support. The result is the Volume:Coda expansion which is being exclusively being developed for Sony’s upcoming new PlayStation VR platform. The expansion will be free to all PS4 gamers who already own the original Volume game.
Volume has a voice cast that includes movie director Andy Serkis of Lord of the Rings and Rise of the Planet of the Apes fame, game critic Jim Sterling, and YouTuber Charlie Mcdonnel. The stylish stealth adventure mixes a modern retelling of the story of Robin Hood and impressive gameplay mechanics.
Volume: Coda is a continuation of the main game except when the expansion is released layers will be experiencing it in the immersive story environment of PlayStation VR. The game will feature a cool holographic simulation floating in front of you, an addition that is being enhanced by the addition of user scaling.
The Volume: Coda expansion will bring 30 new additional levels to the main Volume game and while players will still be guiding their character on stealth missions as in the main tile, this time round players will already know what dastardly deeds the villains intend.
Bithell has promised to reveal more on the game at this years E3 games conference, an event we are eagerly awaiting for not only news on Volume: Coda, but several other PS4 and PlayStation VR titles as well.
