Sony has announced that a new PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle is set to launch on 1 December 2017. Doom VFR is the virtual reality version of the brutal first-person shooter game due for release on PlayStation VR on the same date. The title will now also be available with its own PS VR bundle. The new bundle is the latest in a series of PSVR bundles announced in recent months and highlights Sony’s continued emphasis on its virtual reality platform.
PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle
DOOM VFR will be a fast-paced story featuring the brutal gameplay that the franchise is known for. Only this time players will get to experience it in VR. Players will take on the role of a cybernetic survivor based at the UAC facility on Mars. Your task will be to protect the facility from failure and maintain order. In addition, you will also have to fight and repel the demon invasion in intense combat.
So with DOOM VFR’s highly anticipated PS VR release imminent, the game has had its own bundle created on the platform. The PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle will include a PS VR system and a copy of DOOM VFR on Blu-ray. Also included in the bundle is a copy of the updated PS VR Demo disc. A PlayStation camera is also included in the box.
The DOOM VFR bundle will retail for $399.99 USD / $499.99 CAD in the United States and Canada respectively.
Yet Another US-Only Release?
The package pictured above allows you to enjoy the game in a number of ways for a more immersive experience. Firstly, both your PlayStation VR Aim Controller and move controller can be used while playing DOOM VFR. In addition, players will also be able to use their Dualshock 4 wireless controllers too.
Unfortunately the announcement about the new DOOM VFR PS VR bundle was made on the PlayStation Blog’s US site. That would suggest that this is a US focused release, and so UK gamers stand to lose out on this particular bundle. Other the US and Canada, no mention was made of release date in the UK or other territories.
DOOM VFR is one of the most anticipated upcoming PS VR games and slated for release on PS VR on 1 December. Consequently, the PlayStation VR DOOM VFR Bundle will also be released on the same day and is now available to pre-order.
