Jamestown+ is a bullet hell shooter game for the PlayStation 4, developed by Final Form Games.
The first version of Jamestown+ (Legend of the Lost Colony) was released in 2011. All lovers of this video game have been waiting four years for its continuation, and now it is finally available the PS4 console. Although Jamestown Plus was intially scheduled for release this summer, it came this week on Wednesday. PS4 Gamers, what a pleasant surprise!
The goal of the video game, as well as gameplay, is similar to the previous game version. You move into a spacecraft while shooting in all directions and collecting the gold. There are several types of ships (spacecraft) available, with a primary or secondary attack, special weapons, a temporary shield and so on. The goal is to colonize your enemies in space. Also, this bullet hell shooter is playable in single player mode or in a local multiplayer mode.
Fortunately, Jamestown+ has significant improvements compared to the previous version, what makes this game more interesting. So, let’s see major improvements / innovations of this shooter, and what does the “+” (sign plus in the name) includes.
- New ships (spaceships) – This enhanced game version has three new spaceships with customizable unique weapons and innovative special attacks.
- The Armada Matrix – Three new characters, with six new shot types (Castaway, Pirate Queen, Spaniard – type A and type B) and two special weapons. Also, you can combine these shots / weapons any way you want.
- A Platinum trophy – You can earn this particular Platinum trophy (as a reward) when you get a game bonus.
- Two new levels – Jamestown+ brings two completely new levels, placed on the mysterious Martian moons of Deimos and Phobos: Shifting Sands of Deimos and The Black Garrison of Phobos. These are canonical Jamestown levels with story sequences, many new types of enemies, brand-new art, orchestral soundtracks, and new bosses (like the Pirate Queen).
- A new Jamestown story chapter – This refers to the time and space of the game, and new dimension to established locations and characters. Actually, Jamestown Plus finishes what the first original version (Legend of the Lost Colony) started four years ago.
- The original sound effects and completely remastered soundtrack – The Jamestown+ soundtrack and special sound effects have been remastered for 5. 1 surround sound by acclaimed composer Francisco Cerda. These sound innovations make the Jamestown+ more interesting and more exciting than the original game version.

Jamestown+ is a definitive release of the 4-player cooperative shoot-em-up, as an extended edition of the original game. Like the previous version, it takes place on 17th – century British colonial Mars, but with many game novelties. New spaceships, two completely new levels, new characters, improved shots / weapons and new sound effects provide a new gaming experience.
