Gaming Consoles

I know, I know. We don’t mention the Xbox One around here! But, come on, let’s be reasonable for a minute. Both consoles have their pros and cons, and a super console that took the best of both worlds would be awesome! We get amazing games like The Last Of Us and the Uncharted series, while Xbox One gets Halo and Gears Of War.

It can’t be denied that it has some good features, so here are five things we wish the PS4 could borrow from the Xbox One!

  1. EA Access

EA’s Access programme has been going for a number of years now, offering a huge back catalogue of games for a very low price. In fact, the price of just one of these games for PlayStation 4 is often the entire cost of EA Access for a year. Nearly all the previous year’s sports titles are included, as well as big blockbuster games like Battlefield. EA continue to add more titles to the package on a regular basis. It’s a deal that has continually seemed too good to be true, and we’re jealous of it.

It’s the massive franchise that has always eluded Sony’s consoles, and it will continue to do so in the future. But, we still can still wish, right? Halo has now been present for five iterations and all sorts of spin-offs and shows no signs of slowing down. The story might be getting a little more fragmented, but interest hasn’t dwindled. We can’t deny that it’d be great to see it on PlayStation 4.

3. Backwards Compatibility

Microsoft dropped a bombshell when they announced backwards compatibility support at E3 in 2015. Since then, the programme has been incredibly successful, adding new titles on a regular basis. They all seem to play well, and can even be streamed via the integrated Twitch service. Most importantly, you don’t have to pay extra money to get access to these games if you already own them. Xbox wins this round.

4. Cheaper Games

Due to a number of bundled codes and services like EA Access dropping prices of games, many Xbox One games can be found for low prices. Also, cash codes for Xbox Live can often be found at a discount at places like SEA Gamer Mall Online Games Websites. In general, it’s just so much easier to find discounted Xbox One prices than PlayStation 4 ones. We’d like some low prices too!

5. Snap Mode

You can keep your Kinect and voice commands, but we want snap mode! This is the mode that allows you to play games while watching TV, Netflix or anything else you desire. It’s not a crucial feature, but it’s still a nice luxury for when you want to have something to watch in the background. Will we ever see something like this on the PlayStation 4? We can hope.

There’s no sign of any of these features in the works, but E3 is right around the corner! New features and games will be unveiled, and we’ll see what Sony has in store for us.
