Games publisher Bethesda Softworks has announced that Fallout 4 will soon be released on PlayStation 4 on 10th November, 2015. The developers dedicated a large chunk of their their first E3 press conference to giving away details of the upcoming post-apocalyptic role-playing adventure title.
Fallout 4‘s storyline begins after the nuclear war, just like in the previous titles of the series and will take place in a devastated version of Boston. You’ll see a couple in a bathroom, looking in the mirror – this is where you’ll get to define the features of the character, male or female. And while the bombs fall, the main character runs off to a Vault 111 shelter, after which it emerges as a robot.
As soon as you get there, you’ll find a huge and dynamic world in which you do whatever you want. This is intentional as player freedom is the number one goal in this game. Created with Bethesda’s Creation engine, the world features amazing physical rendering and dynamic lighting. Players can even shoot and kill the character, ending any conversation in the game.
There’s also an ability to scavenge for items and build settlements. Collecting wood allows you to build shacks, for example. As your settlement grows, traders appear and try to sell useful items to you, such as power generators, which can be put together, making gun turrets. And according to Bethseda, those gun turrets are the key factors, as the raiders you’ll eventually have to ward off always get attracted to large settlements.
Another feature that has been revealed is a brand new weapon customization system, which gives you control over objects collected for gun parts. A scope for a simple rifle for example, could be put together by parts retrieved from toy cars, a simple desk lamp, or even handcuffs. The game currently has about 50 base weapons, but with over 700 modifications, gamers be able to build whatever you want.
