PlayStation 4 gamers who were looking forward to sampling upcoming sandbox title Dreams will be disappointed to know that the start of the Dreams PS4 beta trial has been delayed. In an honest and heartfelt post on its blog, Media Molecule announced that the trial would no longer be open at the end of 2016 as previously announced. The video games developer has cited the projects size as one of the reasons behind the delay.
“Dreams is Big. Really big”
For their part, Media Molecule has admitted that the enormity of the Dreams project took even them by surprise, despite their prior planning. The company’s goal to create the best game it can without cutting corners is a commendable stance. Although many fans will still be hugely disappointed at the news.
Here’s a quote from the announcement on Media Molecule’s Blog:
“Now I know it may be difficult to hear, and delays make us sad too. However Dreams is Big. Really big. I mean, we always knew we were a bit crazy, but the enormity of it has taken even us by surprise. And rather than cutting corners we are staying true to our vision”
Still, gamers looking forward to Dreams’ release can take heart in the knowledge that MM is pulling out the stops to get the game ready. The developer also noted that despite the delay to the Dreams Beta trial a lot of ground had been covered. Large tasks such as implementing a working rough cut of the full feature set have been completed, as well as excellent progress on the game campaign.
Dreams Fans set to Keep on Dreaming of Beta for now
Dreams is one of the most anticipated PlayStation 4 games and with good reason. The sandbox video game looks promising. Still, news of the delay will disappoint fans who were looking forward to giving the game a trial before the official release of the finished version.
There is no word yet on when the Dreams Beta trial will now start. However, it’s fair to say that looks to be sometime in 2017 now. The team over at Media Molecule has promised to stay hunkered down and focused on getting Dreams finished and we wish them luck.
