Sony Santa Monica has announced the release date of much anticipated action adventure video game God of War. The popular hack and slash title featuring Kratos is due to be released on PlayStation 4 on the 20th of April 2018. And in addition to announcing the God of War Release date, the studio also dropped a brand new trailer, and revealed details of a range of special and limited God of War editions.
God of War Limited, Digital and Collectors Editions Details
All in all, the number of editions of the game that will be available at launch number up to 4. That can go up to 5 if you also include the pre-order offer that is available to anyone who orders any of the editions detailed below.
For reserving your copy of God of War, you’ll snag yourself three very special shield skins. But that’s not all fore the pre-order offer either, as Santa Monica is also throwing in a few extra perks. So In addition to the shields you’ll also get a Luck of Ages XP Boost, giving you and Kratos an Enchantment Slot and +10 Luck.
That in turn gives you increased Hacksilver and XP gains, as well as an ability to trigger Perks.
All the above seems like a reasonable amount of incentive to secure your copy of the game before release day. However, Sony Santa Monica has something else reserved for hardcore God of War fans. From statues of Kratos to art books and armor sets, there’s an edition for everyone. Check them all out below:
God of War Collectors Edition
The God of War Collectors Edition features a 9” statue of Kratos and Atreus made by Gentle Giant and a special cloth map. Along with that comes two Huldra brothers carvings and the God of War game in a Steel-book case. In addition to the above, the collectors edition also comes with several digital items too.
The God of War collectors edition digital items include a dynamic theme, Dark Horse Artbook, and an Exile’s Guardian shield. Last but not least, you’ll also get Death’s Vow Armor set and the game’s Dark Horse comic book in its digital format.
God of War Limited Edition
If you opt for the God of War Limited edition this is what you’ll get:
- God of War game in silver and black Hudra Brothers logo-embossed Steelbook
- Physical copy of Dark Horse comic book
There’s also a few digital in-game perks in there as well, including a God of War PS4 theme, an Exile’s Guardian Shield and the Death’s Vow Armour set.
God of War Digital Deluxe Edition
Finally, there’s the God of War Digital Edition. In this set you get a digital copy of the Dark Horse comic in which Kratos’ backstory is revealed. You’ll also get another GoW digital comic and a mini art book featuring exclusive creator insights.
The digital edition also comes with the impressive Death’s Vow Armor Set. Wearing the armor gives you increased strength and that is complemented by the accompanying Exiles Guardian shield.
