Dracue Software, a Japanese games developer, is remaking the classic Sega Genesis 16-bit shooter Target Earth for PS4. This time round the game is entitled Assault Suit Leynos and will be released on 12th July on PlayStation 4 with a high-definition makeover, enhanced graphics and new and improved gameplay features.
Assault Suit Leynos Makes a Comeback on PS4
Dracue Software’s remake is set to reinvigorate older fans of the series and capture the hearts of new ones. Rising Star Games will be responsible for publishing the game in Western markets.
The original Assault Suit Leynos was released in Japan in 1990, marking the beginning of the Assault Suits series. However, when it crossed the Pacific Ocean to reach the States, it was rebranded as Target Earth.
The game was an instant hit and it spawned a series with multiple sequels over the years. Assault Suit Leynos was known for its adrenaline pumping, fast action sequences and unforgiving difficulty. Dracue Software wants to retain these qualities in the remake to stay true to older fans while drawing in new gamers with its unique style.
Set far in the distant future with a great war looming over scarce resources on earth, several nations call for an uneasy truce and decide to explore the universe. They establish colonies on moons and excavate resources. As peaceful as this may seem, a new enemy appears from the depths of space and threatens humanity to take away everything they hold dear.
Earth’s colonies have no choice but to deploy the Assault Suit Squadron. The game will feature a large arsenal of weaponry that gamers can customize to tackle the massive mech bosses in outer space.
“A real old-school Experience”
Assault Suit Leynos is a side-scrolling action game that has an insane difficulty, unlike many of today’s games that are far too easy at times. Dracue Software is moving away from this hand-holding approach to modern gaming. The developers have gone back to the roots to give PS4 gamers a real old-school experience. They’ve done this by challenging gamers from the get-go and rewarding their perseverance and resilience.
With its steep learning curve, players will be rewarded with their ever-improving precision and skill. With some patience, you will surely make progress through the game, blasting off hoards of enemy soldiers and taking down mega bosses. Fans of the Gundam anime series will fall in love with this game, with its space setting, warfare, robots, and advanced tech.
The upcoming PS4 game will have a new Arcade mode that features extended levels for longer and tougher gameplay. There will also be fully voice-acted cutscenes, and improved AI enemies using the powerful hardware of the PS4.
PlayStation 4 gamers looking to relive, or experience for the first time the gameplay of the 1990 classic now have the chance to. Consequently, this remake will feature a Classic mode with old-school effects and music. Therefore It is almost like getting two games for the price of one.
Assault Suit Leynos will be available digitally on the PlayStation Store on 12th July for a new generation of console gamers to revel in. The physical version will include a deluxe double-sided poster featuring artwork from the Japanese release as well as artwork from the original classic 16-bit game.
