This latest game in the revered series is slated for release on the latest generation of consoles this year and the developer’s producer recently took to the PlayStation blog to update eager fans on progress.
Tropico is is a city-builder and political simulator where players in the game will become the notorious and bearded protagonist, El Presidente. You will be tasked with taking charge of running Tropico, a banana republic situated in the Caribbean. The storyline will start off as you slowly build your city and transform it from a small village into a thriving city. With no limits to what type of establishment or building type you can choose, the fate of Tropico will be entirely in your hands!
But with great power comes great responsibility, and players will also have to ensure they pay attention to food production as well as the republic’s thriving Llama industry. From technology advancement to natural resources, there are also various commercial operations you can try your hand at depending on your tastes, or what you want to exploit!
In the midst of all the fun though, players will also have to keep a wary eye on the political scene. As a leader there will be no shortage of those who will be unhappy at how you run the country, from the general public to environmental activists and business barons.
To make the transition to current gen consoles, Tropico 5’s management controls have been mapped to match the DualShock 4 controller. The game will render the vibrant colours of the Carribean in full 1080p and an impressive 30FPS frame-rate. In addition, Kalypso Media has made sure to include Remote Play on PlayStation TV and PlayStation Vita as well.
The challenge that Tropico 5 will bring to players on PlayStation 4 will be how to build your nation successfully while keeping the power hungry and dissatisfied at bay. These choices are what will invariably shape the leader you will become; will you choose to be a dictator and rule with an iron fist?, or will you be a man of the people and try to satisfy everyone?
