Capcom today revealed new information on the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition for the PlayStation 4.
The title is expected to release in summer this year, around seven years after the launch of the original game way back in January 2008. The original title was Capcom’s first ever title for the PlayStation 3 console and launched the franchise to the classic status it holds today.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will come with new modes, gameplay, and a number of visual improvements, along with the largest roster of characters to choose from in any previous Devil May Cry game ever. Needles to say, this already has PS4 gamers excited for the upcoming title.
Players will also be able to play as Vergil in the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. This is going to be the title’s highlight feature. Vergil has been quite a popular character amongst players. To create the character’s appearance, Capcom has made use of Vergil’s rendition from Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition. The company then went ahead and added elements of his DmC rendition to create a new version of the character.
The Special Edition will also carry a new game mechanic the company calls “Concentration”. This will complement Vergil’s signature fighting style called “iaijutsu”. His attacks will continue to get stronger as he keeps on fighting during the gameplay. His teleportation ability using the trademark “Sword Illusions” will create a rich action experience for gamers, and will be much different from Nero or Dante.
Capcom has also made Lady and Trish as playable characters in the Special Edition. This will push up the total number of playable characters to five including Nero and Dante. Lady is a playable character for the first time in the Devil May Cry series. Lady’s fighting style is much different from other Devil May Cry 4 characters, and her strong skills will be in firearms.
Capcom promises a play style in the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition as something that players will have never seen in the franchise so far. The title will include a new feature called Legendary Dark Knight Mode which was previously planned to be added to the PS3 version.
This mode will enable players to fight against a large number of enemies. Players will be able to adjust their fighting style in order to fight the enemies, making a richer gameplay for fans of the game.
Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will also come with a number of new options for costumes. These new costumes will be compatible with in-game cutscenes as well, bringing a whole new look to the game that’s never been seen before.
