Video game developers Studio Evolved have revealed the first Project Morpheus- ready PlayStation 4 game entitled ARK: Survival Evolved. The game will make the most of the PS4 console’s next-gen gameplay experiences in addition to awesome visuals which will be augmented by Sony’s VR headset. The result is that the world of ARK and its inhabitants feel like a real place that players will be able to walk through, explore, and truly experience first hand.
Judging by the latest trailer with scenes recorded from live online gameplay, Survival Evolved has a unique opportunity to create something that resembles a truly awesome game, no matter what your favorite genre might be. It pushes the next-gen gaming to the max, giving the gamers, the world of ARK and its characters a massive and beautiful place, free to explore and walk through.
The potentials of any game depend on the hardware, and considering that PS4 and project Morpheus have rather powerful specs, it allowed the game’s developers to a place where you’ll find thousands and thousands of pieces of environment, AI entities, neutral animals, and an ability to play multiplayer within that same place!
And there are also dinosaurs, ones that you can actually ride for the first time in a game! The developers did mention that there are about 60 species within Survival Evolved, but there’s surely room for more of them!
The important thing to remember is that every single creature has been designed to possess its own living ecosystem, predator instincts, and the ability to think on its own, meaning that it’s independent of the player and his influences. Remember that here, all creatures can be tamed, looted, or even trained for war. This is possible due to the intertwining present in the game, which means that the creature’s interactions can be controlled by the player.
All of the features we’ve mentioned surely seem unrealistic to pull off for something like a PS4, don’t they? That’s why we are also excited to see this game hit the stores and become available for the consoles world wide.
Not much can compare to flying over jungles and mountains on a dinosaur, right? Designing something like this demands full concentration. Why? Because from the view point of an average game developer, it’s pretty easy to fall into the trap of focusing the developing process of a game on a single platform. When you create a huge game like this one, you simply have to think outside the box.
Bringing a game to Play Station means that you’re supposed to make a huge switch from using a mouse and a keyboard to using the Dualshock 4 controller. The developers here made sure that this huge switch (which is sometimes ignored in a lot of cases) doesn’t make your experience of playing this game worse than it should be.
A difference is immediately noticeable once the VR headset was turned on; a difference between looking at a flat screen and virtually being there with the dinosaurs was there, and that is why this game is a rich game, and that it indeed is something worth checking out when it’s released!
