Ubisoft Montreal officially announced the release date of Watch Dogs 2, the sequel to its acclaimed open-world third-person action-adventure shooter. It will launch worldwide on November 15, 2016 on PlayStation 4.

Watch Dogs 2

Watch Dogs 2 is the sequel to the popular 2014 game Watch Dogs and once again, players will take control of a hacker who is trying to take down the establishment. In the previous title, the establishment consisted of a crooked government trying to monitor every single citizen.

This time around, mega corporations are profiling every single individual to not only track them, but also steal and trade their personal data without them knowing. Privacy is seemingly gone.

In the previous installment, you were playing as Aiden Pearce in an artistically infused Chicago metropolitan. In this sequel, players will take the role of a new protagonist, Marcus Holloway, in a tech-oriented San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. He is a young and clever hacker who has been wrongfully accused of a crime he did not commit. This is the starting point of this game revolving around cybersecurity.

Aiden Pearce may have shut down the Central Operating System (ctOS) in Chicago but Blume, the creator of ctOS, went back to the drawing board and developed an improved ctOS 2.0. It is now in full swing in the tech hub of the world, Silicon Valley, where it can flourish with everybody’s devices being connected to the cloud. It feeds off the notion of the Internet of Things, but in a very detrimental way.

Aiden Pearce was a very insular and introverted person who kept his distance from others, never really socializing with people and establishing meaningful human connections.

On the other hand, Marcus Holloway is a more upbeat and amicable person with a social life and is quite extroverted. This helps him in joining DedSec, a San Francisco unit of underground hackers who are secretly attempting to take down the corrupt establishment and return power back to the people. He fervently believes in this mission and makes it his goal.

Watch Dogs 2 PS4

The technology is vastly enhanced in Watch Dogs 2. This time around, you can go far beyond controlling traffic light signals and surveillance cameras and trains. You actually have the ability to control cars individually, going behind the steering wheels of every single vehicle in the game.

You will even be able to use a RC car for sneaky operations where you need to infiltrate on the ground and a quadcopter drone to provide a bird’s-eye view of the terrain before making your move. Ubisoft say that Watch Dogs 2 provides a “fully hackable world.”

Now more than ever before, you actions will have a significant impact on the plot and the consequences will reverberate throughout the entire city.

Doing more good will result in more followers to your cause and you could potentially spark a revolution when people have their backs against the wall. California’s Bay Area has all of the famous landmarks and iconic districts of the real location, capturing the essence and soul of the city. It is even more fleshed out than Chicago was, making it a character in its own right.

Look forward to hacking your way through San Francisco in Watch Dogs 2 come November 15, 2016. More news may pop up in the upcoming E3 so stay tuned.
