Sony has revealed two new PS4 consoles that are due to be released in Europe and select PAL regions on July 15th. The 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition console will provide twice the storage of existing PS4’s while the original 500GB model is also getting some tweaks.
The new 1TB PlayStation 4 console was not even significant enough to make it to Sony’s press conference at this years just ended E3 but will be a welcome development. Given the rising popularity of online video game purchases as well as the need for space on the machine to store them, the Ultimate player Edition console makes sense.
Meanwhile Sony will also be updating the original 500 GB PS4 model, making it ten percent lighter, 8 percent more energy efficient, and a possibility of matte finish instead of the current glossy look. The new consoles are scheduled for release this July (2015) and will be available in select European countries and PAL regions. There is no word yet with regards to pricing or when the new consoles will be released in North America or the rest of the world.
