Sony’s PlayStation VR rig is set for release in less than a week and the system’s games have taken up a lot of column space so far. But Sony is keen to show that there are other PlayStation VR Experiences available on the platform. So hot on the heels of announcing the full list of all upcoming PS VR games, the company has released the lineup of all its other non- gaming experiences and video services.
PlayStation VR Experiences: More than Just Games
If you have pre-ordered a Playstation VR headset or plan on buying one soon, then you’ll be able to use the rig for other experiences in addition to the ver-growing list of games. PlayStation VR Experiences include several virtual reality video and other VR content. See the full list below:
Allumette
Allumette is a fantastical VR experience created by Penrose Studios. The virtual Reality story explores the deep ties between a young girl and her mother and is set in a city floating in the sky that is loosely inspired by Venice. The young girl’s name is Allumette and she has to rise above tragedy and make sacrifices to save her family.
Atomic Ghost Fleet
Coming from the studios of Alchemy VR is Atomic Ghost fleet. The VR experience will let you dive deep into the remote waters around the Bikini Atoll. PS VR users will explore the tropical waters filled with exotic marine life and a myriad shipwrecks that litter the seafloor.
Cocos Shark Island
Also from Alchemy VR is Cocos Shark Island, a VR experience that will take you to the tropical waters off the coast of Costa Rica. As PlayStation VR Experiences go, the 360 degree views afforded in Cocos Shark Island are simply breathtaking. Viewers will be able to join a group of scientists as they observe the underwater tropical ecosystem.
First Life VR by David Attenborough
It seems exploring the depths of the ocean is a common theme among the PlayStation VR Experiences content. This is also probably because the bottom of the sea is one of the few places that humans rarely ever see. And so Alchemy VR brings us First Life VR by David Attenborough. The renowned nature documentary veteran takes the viewer to the dawn of earth and explores its early sea life.
Harmonix Music VR
A title by Harmonix Music Systems that promises “VR music visualization.” The virtual reality experience works by turning your music into an amazing range of visual scenes. Users simply plug in a USB stick with their favourite songs into their PS4 console and Harmonix works its magic.
Other Playstation VR experiences include animated alien invasion movie Invasion!, and and dedicated VR channel Littlestar VR Cinema. Littlestar VR features virtual reality content from channels like Discovery, Nat Geo, Disney and many others.
Completing the lineup are the following three PlayStation VR Experiences and video services:
- Kismet: Features a magical realm of the mystic arts of tarot and astrology, brought to life in a stunning handmade Gothic style
- Vrideo: A wide range of VR video channels and categories with streaming possible on select virtual reality content.
- Within: VR storytelling from a range of creators on a single app.
